Pete Alderton - Roadside Preaching Pete Alderton - Roadside Preaching

Roadside Preaching sees Pete Alderton collaborating with musicians he met while touring Germany's blues bars – true originals, to whom the blues is not just a musical style, but a way of life.
It has made Roadside Preaching, mastered by Hans-Jörg Mauksch at Pauler Acoustics, his most authentic and intense album so far. An essential part of its appeal stems from the tightness of his backing band, which has cut its teeth through an endless string of gigs, performing both at renowned jazz spaces and small pubs.
Eric Clapton once said: "From time to time, you need to revisit the blues to recharge".  Pete Alderton has never left its side.

Pete Alderton: Vocals, Acoustic Guitar, Blues Harp

Maximilian Geller - Alpenglühen Maximilian Geller - Alpenglühen
In the 70s and 80s, Punk and Bossa Nova were merged into an exciting new genre called Nouvelle Vague. Thirty years later, Maximilian Geller has given birth to an equally adventurous and unique blend of styles: folkmusic-jazz.
It is taking you home and to faraway places at the same time, to alpine cabins and basement jazz clubs all at once.
It took some time before Geller had gathered the courage to create folkmusic-jazz. And truth be told, the thought of this renowned saxophonist - regarded as a jazz icon from Munich to New York - playing Austrian landlers and jodlers, does sound crazy. And yet, the idea is not quite as mad as one might initially think. After all, Geller is a Swiss citizen and grew up as a child of the alps. Waltzes, traditional tunes and alpine nursery rhymes would be his favourites long before he came to appreciate Django Reinhard.
Once you've heard this music, it won't let go of you. Just like folk music never let go of Max Geller.

Maximilian Geller: soprano / alto saxophone
Herbert Pixner: diatonic accordion
Walter Lang: piano
Thomas Stabenow: bass
Hajo von Hadeln: drums

Kari Ikonen Trio - Bright Kari Ikonen Trio - Bright
Fighting darkness with mystic harmonies and swinging rhythms
Kari Ikonen has entered the major league of the piano-trio-format
Finland is not exactly a country known for its joie de vivre. Instead, most of its citizens tend to hold a somewhat pessimistic perspective on life - musicians included.  Pianist Kari Ikonen, however, is a notable exception to this rule.  Preferring light to darkness, the luminous, vivid sounds and upbeat songs of his aptly titled album Bright are an empathetic counterpoint to the prevailing doom and gloom.  A collaboration with double bassist Ara Yaralyan and drummer Markku Ounaskaris, Bright fuses some of the tastiest ingredients of European jazz-cuisine with filleted afro-american influences and spicy transoriental vibes, taking the classic jazz piano trio into remarkable new directions.

Randi Tytingvåg - Lights Out Randi Tytingvåg - Lights Out
Randi Tytingvåg
Lights Out
Over the last years, Randi Tytingvåg has proofed to be one of Norway's - and even Europe's - most interesting artists. Her first albums „Let Go“ and „Red“ featured a unique blend of Chanson, Folk and Jazz, taking the hearts of thousands of fans by storm. „Grounding“ (2012) presented the charismatic singer as a mature songwriter with the skills to come up with a new take on contemporary Scandinavian/British pop. So far Randi Tytingvåg's career has known no restraints in style, treating music as a game that just needs to be played right.
Sadly, life as opposed to music isn't always a game after all, Randi Tytingvåg had to learn when she lost her unborn child last year. Suffering from sorrow and grief, she was looking for a way to express those feelings and found it in her music. It's a delicate and eminently private subject, but Randi Tytingvåg is an artist through and through, music is her language and „Lights Out“ is her therapy.
She is making a point of breaking the taboo that's associated with the death of a child in our time, breaking the silence with her voice. Touching the listener with openhearted English lyrics, the five intense songs assembled on the EP show a completely new musical side of Randi Tytingvåg.
After successfully adapting chanson, jazz and pop, Randi Tytingvåg now draws her inspiration form American folk and blues. The melancholy of the banjo is central to the records intimate atmosphere, accompanied by slide-guitar and piano, while Randi Tytingvågs beautiful voice keeps it all together. “Lights Out” often reminds one of a Norwegian version of Norah Jones in her early days.

Slagr & Camilla Granlien - Songs by Geirr Tveitt Slagr & Camilla Granlien - Songs by Geirr Tveitt
Irresistibly poetic soundscapes
Slagr are exploring the magic of Norwegian composer Geirr Tveitt

When Slagr released their first album  straum, stille  on the Ozella imprint in 2011, critics and listeners alike were instantly  taken with the fragile and brittle, yet highly expressive and po werful music of the Norwegian chamberfolk-trio. Eager not to  repeat themselves, Slagr's new release  Songs by Geirr Tveitt is paying homage to the musical legacy of one of the most  renowned Norwegian composers of the 20 th century with tender sounds and transpar ent textures. Supported by folk singer  Camilla Granlien, Anne Hytta (Hardanger fiddle), Sigrun Eng (cello) and Amund Sjølie Sveen (vibraphone, tuned glasses) are  effortlessly connecting the worlds of classi cal music, folk and improvisation - just  like Geir Tveitt once did, when composing  his little masterpieces.
The cosmos of Slagr is defined by the contrast between the sens itive violin- and cello-timbres of Anne Hytta and Sigrun Eng  and the crystalline tones emanating from Amund Sjølie Sveen's tuned wine glasses and vibraphone. Camilla Granlien's haunting voice is seamlessly navigating the galaxy spanned by these polari ties and together, the fourpiece are preserving the traditiona l  music of Norway, while simultaneously enriching it with other  European traditions. The result is both anthemic and lyrical:  "Already when playing Tveitt's music as members of a youth orches tra, I was curious whether one could infuse Norwegian folk mus ic  with contemporary sounds" , says Eng, who, next to playing the cello, is also responsible for arranging the pieces.  "His melodies  are extremely clear, which is something you'll also find in the  poetry and melancholia of Norwegian folk songs. To me, his voca bulary  makes for a perfect match with Slagr's soundscapes."
Despite fearlessly treading new waters,  Songs by Geirr Tveitt is characterised by the same meditative, minimalist mood of its  predecessor  straum, stille . Recorded in Oslo's famous Rainbow Studios and pr oduced by fiddle-virtuoso Nils Økland, most of  the pieces on the album originat ed in the 1960s and were initially written for radio-portraits of leading Norwegian poets.  Tveitt would set some of their poems to  music, composing short, but refined miniatur es as an accompaniment to the lyrics.  By combining Tveitt's music wi th poetry by Olav H. Hauge, Aslaug Vaa,  Aslaug Låstad Lygre and Alf Prøysen, Slagr are  renewing that beguiling bond between words and music.
The album opens with "Snø" (Snow), whose lyrics by Olav H. Hauge (1908-1994) evoke images of pure white. Camilla  Granlien's vocals are making the freshness of a clear Winter's  day palpable, while conjuring up visions of a gentle Sommer's  night with the eerily beautiful sounds underpinning Aslaug Låstad Lygre's (1910-1966) "Mjukt skjer åra". Thanks to the pristine harmonies, the multi-layered melodic motives as well as the sobe r sounds of Anne Hytta's fiddle and Sigrun Eng's cello, Aslaug  Vaas's (1889- 1965) excursions into the fjords of Norway are turning into a transcendental listening experience.
Once again, softness and tenderness are vital  characteristics of Slagr's latest sonic ex plorations. When, as on Aslaug Låstad  Lygre's poem "Godnatt" (Good Night), the group are serenading nature, one feels transported to a meadow in Spring. And  when, as in Alf Prøysen's (1914-1970) "Lomna esvisa", they are telling the story of girl who wants to commit suicide, but takes  back her decision at the very last mo ment, the musical poetry and beautiful sadness of Slagr are fully revealed.

Vinyl - Edgar Knecht - Dance On Deep Waters Vinyl - Edgar Knecht - Dance On Deep Waters

Limited Edition 180 Gram Audiophile Vinyl
The critics just can't hide their excitement when it comes to Edgar Knecht. "Jazz hasn't been this original and stimulating for a long time", one of them enthused; "This music is simply stunning", respected monthly Jazzpodium confessed; and Germany's biggest quality newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung wrote: "This is truly unheard-of music." And truly, the German pianist and his band of bassist Rolf Denecke and drum-duo Stephan Emig and Tobias Schulte succeed in creating something genuinely new:

A fusion of the vivacity of jazz and world music with the elegance of classical composition and the depth and clarity of ancient folk melodies.

Piano, bass and drums are dancing on the waves of deep waters, rhythms and melodies are rising like ecstatic fireworks. "And all of this", according to newspaper Hessische Allgemeine, "is done with plenty of Innigkeit, a boisterous joy of playing, a love for improvisation and spontaneity.
Sometimes it's so good, it makes you cry."

Josete Ordoñez - Por El Mar - revisitado Josete Ordoñez - Por El Mar - revisitado
A project by DJ Nartak & Dagobert Böhm featuring. remixes by Ganga, Softwaver, Blank & Jones, Chris Zippel, Stardelay, Deep Dive Corp. feat. Hellmut Hattler, Sine, Luca Germini, Mathieu & Florzinho, Dee C'rell, Dagobert Böhm and Nacho Sotomayor.
With his 2009 masterpiece Por el Mar, Josete Ordoñez carved out an entirely unique personal style for himself. His ode to the magic and energy of the ocean, to its ability of slowing down time and creating a space for reflection, quickly turned into the perfect soundtrack for those wishing to escape daily routine. Using nothing but the silky tone of this flamenco guitar, lively percussion, world music influences as well as jazzy harmonies on keyboards and synthesizers, the album took listeners on a both relaxing and inspiring journey to the beach. Or, as a critic put it: "Josete Ordoñez's guitar is creating desires, stimulating one's fantasy and painting images of the ocean's blue, the wind's breath and the infinite expanse of the horizon on the mind's eye - somewhere between flamenco, pop, jazz and chill out."
Four years after the original release of Por el Mar, its philosophy and sound are more current than ever. So it seemed an obvious choice to approach some of the most renowned producers and musicians of the international downtempo-, lounge- and chill-out-scene about remixing selected cuts from the record and inviting Klassik-Lounge-DJ Nartak to commission and supervise the project.
Thanks to Nartak's involvement, Por el Mar – Revisitado now brings together a cast of illustrious names. All of them are approaching the originals with respect and sensitivity, dressing them up in subtle electronic arrangements without robbing them of their soul. Although electronic sounds and beats are essential to these new tunes, the melodies of the flamenco guitar and the characteristic voices of singers Ana Salazar, Monica Molina from Spain as well as Nsut Song from Vietnam have remained firmly intact.
Three years ago, Josete Ordoñez's created a timeless musical vision. Now, it continues into the future – as the soundtrack for magical nights at a cocktail lounge at the beach.
